Newcastle, New South Wales

Our next stop was to see Ron and Bev Newtons relatives.  They live in a suburb of New Castle.  We are parked in John and Fiona's back yard.

The purpose of our visit was to give Hal Newton. Ron's uncle, a Canadian Beaver head cover for his golf club.  He really liked it and he must have liked us as well as he gave us the address of his place in Lake Cathie (pronounced Cat-eye) as well as the code to get in.

The entire family came over for a big BBQ.  We had so much fun, we laughed so much my face hurt when we went to bed.

We took a drive into Lake Cathie to see what it looked like.  We decided we would stay for a couple of days.  The house looks great, in a nice quiet neighbourhood.  It was a lovely home, could sleep at least a dozen people.  We did laundry and I could peg it on the line, dries really quickly in the wind.

We went to the Lawn Bowling Club and had a great dinner.  Dalton decided he wanted to play the pokies (slot machines) for those who don't know.  He was lucky and won $1283.55.  I would say that we had a very warm welcome to Lake Cathie.

The next day Dalton decided he wanted to play golf at Port McQuarrie Golf Course.  They have a field of camels across the highway, however, there is no place to stop to get a picture.  He came home with a new rain jacket, picked me up and took me back up for dinner, unfortunately they don't serve dinner on a Monday night so we walked across the street and got a pizza to take home.

I had washed all the towels we used at the house, we took our bedding in from the Van so we were able to leave with everything clean, the way it was when we arrived.

Unfortunately for us it poured down with rain during the night and we had left a window open in the van so our mattress was wet.  We took the cover off an hung it up, luckily we got up early as we were leaving that day.  Luckily the cover was dry so we propped the mattress up in the van and headed North.

We stopped for lunch in Grafton where they were having a Jacaranda Festival as well as the Melbourne Cup so people, especially the ladies, were dressed to the nines.  I asked the table in front of us if I could take their picture, they were happy to let me so you can see all the fancy hats, etc.

Robi's favourite tree!

We drove to Casino where we stayed the night.  Next morning we had our showers and coffee and were on our way once again.

We drove to Lismore where we stopped for breakfast.  Just a short drive later we got to Tweed Heads, we had such a good time when we were there in 2012, we were really looking forward to it.
